Split Decision

FAU split a doubleheader with UAB on Saturday, winning the first game 5-2 before falling 8-2 in the second.

The loss dropped FAU from a tie for first place with Southern Miss.

After missing last week’s start because of a sore shoulder, Jake Miednik allowed two runs over seven innings, improving to 8-1 on the season.

“I thought it was a gutsy performance,” coach John McCormack said. “He really did a nice job getting us to the eighth inning.”

Pedro Pages’ three-run homer in third inning proved to be the big blow in the first game.

UAB jumped on FAU starter Vince Coletti for four early runs in the second game.
