5/18 Game Recap

On Thursday, the Owls brought their hot bats to UAB, where they outslugged the Blazers 16-5.

Starting pitcher CJ Williams delivered 3.2 innings, allowing four runs, striking out two, and walking five. He finished the year with a very respectable 3.31 ERA.

The offense yet again got going early, powered by a grand slam from Dylan Goldstein, who continued his electrifying season. He is now batting .306 this spring.

Caleb Pendleton, John Schroder, and Jackson Ross all homered as well, combining for eight RBI’s on the day to go along with Goldstein’s grand slam.

Braden Ostrander came in to replace Williams, only throwing one-third, and striking out the only batter he faced on the day. Hunter Cooley and Jacob Josey combined for the final 5 innings, with Cooley picking up his sixth win, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out one. Josey pitched the final three innings of the game, striking out four and only allowing one, picking up his first save.

Overall, the Owls simply overpowered the Blazers, and look to continue their hot streak into the playoffs.
