Swinging Weekend

FAU’s bats may finally be getting into the swing of things.

The Owls led 6-0 after two, scored three more times in the sixth and added a final run in the seventh on their way to a 10-0 victory over Seton Hall.

“We scored four in the first, and our M.O. has been to shut down after that, but we added two, and then a three-run home run and a solo shot,” FAU coach John McCormack said. “It was nice, we kept answering and doing some good work at the plate. And on a day like this, we got five guys in to pitch, and every position player got in in some way, so it was a good day.”

Sunday’s victory marked the second-consecutive double-digit outburst for FAU. The Owls took all three games from Seton Hall, sweeping a home weekend series for the third time in as many tries.

FAU followed Tyler Frank’s lead-off walk in the bottom of the first with consecutive singles by Joe Montes, David Miranda and Pedro Pages. Eric Rivera’s two-out single drove in the Owls’ fourth run of the inning.

That was plenty of support for FAU starter Vince Coletti, who scattered four hits while striking out four in five scoreless innings to earn his first victory as an Owl.
