BOCA RATON – Coming off a bye week, FAU football is ready for the stretch run.
That run begins Saturday with a trip to Texas-San Antonio to face the 4-6 Roadrunners on Saturday at 6 p.m.. For FAU, the formula for reaching its second Conference USA championship game in three years is simple. Over the final two games of the regular season, the Owls need to win one more game than Marshall does.
Will that happen?
That’s one of the topics tackled on this week’s OwlTalk with Brian Rowitz, the first and still finest FAU football podcast.
Rowitz, of ESPN West Palm fame, and our Chuck King discuss whether that loss will happen, and if it does, when? Is it reasonable for the Owls to expect Marshall to drop a game against two teams it will be favored to beat? And, should it come down to the final week, is it acceptable for FAU fans to openly root for FIU?
The duo also turns its attention to this week’s task, a contest against a UTSA team that’s played better in the season’s second half but still lacks the talent to match FAU. Three of the Roadrunners’ four wins this season have come against Rice, UTEP and Old Dominion, C-USA teams which have combined to win a total of three games this season. UTSA’s fourth victory came over Incarnate Word.
Not exactly a robust resume.
FAU will be boosted by the return of running back BJ Emmons from a broken ankle. How much will Emmons be able to contribute after missing the past nine games? That’s another topic examined on OwlTalk.
So give OwlTalk a listen. You’ll be better prepared for when Lane Kiffin leads FAU against UTSA. Simply put, OwlTalk will make you a better fan.
