Yet another poor starting pitching performance put FAU in a hole too deep to dig out of in a 9-6 loss at Texas-San Antonio.
The Roadrunners battered Owls starter Alex House for eight runs over the first three innings and nine runs, seven earned, in all in 5 2/3 innings.
FAU has now lost three consecutive games for the first time this season.
The Owls actually took a 1-0 lead one batter into the game when shortstop Tyler Frank belted a lead-off home run, his eighth of the season.
Trailing 8-2 in the fifth, David Miranda’s two-run triple drew the Owls within four. Miranda scored one batter later on Stephen Kerr’s single.
