FAU’S NEWLY COMMITTED HARD-HITTING SAFETY

A player to look out for in the 2024 recruiting class is Michael Wright III, a safety out of Palm Beach, Florida.

Wright stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall and 175 pounds. Some say he is undersized at his position, but his downhill hits are explosive.

In highschool Wright played both sides of the ball his first two years, achieving 12 receptions for 199 yards in 9 games.

Though he was averaging 16.6 yards per reception, Wright fell in love with the safety position and never looked back after his sophomore season.

At safety, Wright recorded 78 total tackles, 1 interception and 6 recorded passes defended.

His large number of tackles got this 3 star 69th ranked safety in the country 8 collegiate offers. Indiana, Temple and Ball State are a few standout examples.

As a sought out safety, Owl fans should be excited for the arrival of Wright to their program. He has a lot of raw talent and hard hitting power that, with the right guidance, can be a real problem for teams in the American Athletic Conference.

As a safety coming down from coverage to stop the run or check down passes, Wright will have an immediate impact. As for coverage, Safeties Coach Derrick Gibson and Defensive Pass Coordinator Corey Bell will have no problem molding Wright into a better zone coverage safety.

I think the future is bright for Michael and am excited to see him develop into an All Conference safety throughout his time at FAU. As a spectator, lookout for the 5 ’11 safety shooting down from coverage and absolutely annihilating running backs and slot receivers.

If you miss it live, you’ll be sure to see it on ESPN’s top 10 plays of the day later that night.
