FAU couldn’t overcome a 17-point first half in a 69-64 loss at Old Dominion on Thursday.

Center Ronald Delph’s ninth double-double of the season wasn’t enough to offset the Owls’ poor first half. Delph scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds but FAU still fell.

Guard Justin Massey scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half, draining four of his 11 attempts from beyond the arc.

Massey’s final made three-pointer, coming with 1:14 remaining, pulled the Owls within two at 63-61, but FAU would get no closer. The senior missed three three-point attempts in the final minute.



FAU opened the second half on a 23-9 run, taking a brief 40-39 lead.

With the win, ODU swept the season series.

Moving Forward: Though he didn’t make a field goal, William Pfister grabbed nine rebounds, didn’t commit a turnover and made all four free throw attempts.

Moving Backward: Payton Hulsey followed one of his best games of the season by scoring five points and doling out only three assists. …Gerdarius Troutman only managed two points in 17 minutes. …Anthony Adger didn’t score in 12 minutes of play. …ODU out-rebounded FAU 43-40.
