BOCA RATON – For Jovon Durante, it’s one and done at FAU.

The Owls wide receiver announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he plans to forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

Durante led FAU in catches (65) receiving yards (873) and touchdown receptions (five) this season. Though his five touchdowns were rather paltry, they outnumbered all off FAU’s other wide receivers combined.

He’s the first FAU player of consequence in program history to leave early and declare for the draft.

Stage 3 of this great journey 🙏🏾‼️ all I need is support and watch me take off ✈️✈️ thank you @WVUfootball and @FAU_Football pic.twitter.com/3iJdXl0ehi

A former West Virginia Mountaineer, Durante transferred to FAU for the 2017 season, but sat out the year in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.

Durante’s departure leaves a void in what was already an under-performing wide receiver unit. He started every game this season at one wide out, while the Owls toggled between Pico Harrison and John Mitchell at the other wide out.

Slot receiver Willie Wright experienced a down sophomore campaign, but did catch two touchdown passes.

The Owls do have Auburn transfer Kyle Davis eligible to take the field next season. He sat out 2018 following his transfer. Reserve slot receiver Dante Cousart is also expected to return from a broken leg.
