BOCA RATON – FAU has a short week to prepare for one of the toughest opponents on its schedule.
Louisiana Tech comes to Howard Schnellenberger Field for a Friday night Conference USA contest.
The Owls are coming off a 31-7 loss to Marshall, the worst C-USA loss and lowest point total of the Lane Kiffin era.
What went wrong during that loss to Marshall? That’s one of the questions discussed on this week’s OwlTalk with Brian Rowitz, the first and still finest FAU football podcast.
Rowitz, of ESPN West Palm fame, and our Chuck King also discuss the current FAU quarterback situation. Battered in Saturday’s Marshall loss, Chris Robison threw four interceptions before being sidelined with an ankle injury. Is it wise to sit Robison for De’Andre Johnson or Rafe Peavey?
The duo also delves into linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair’s season-ending knee injury and what effect losing the team leader will have on the Owls.
Then there’s this week’s FAU game against Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs remain one of the favorites to reach the C-USA championship game. They feature a potent offense and one of the nations best defensive players in defensive end Jaylon Ferguson.
OwlTalk also has a little bit of fun this week. With two nation-wide lotteries offering massive payouts this week, Rowitz and King also speculate about what they would do if they held the winning ticket. It sounds like FAU should be rooting for one of them to win.
