Final Goodbye

BOCA RATON – Charles Cameron’s on-and-off status as an FAU football player once again switched to the off position – and this time it appears permanent.

Academically ineligible for the 2019 season, the FAU defensive tackle announced on Twitter Tuesday that he’s leaving FAU.

“its [sic] bring me so much pain to say i will not be returning to FAU in the fall,” Cameron wrote on Twitter. “I blame nobody else but myself.”

It’s the second time Cameron announced intentions to quit playing football for FAU.

Last summer Cameron made a similar announcement only to change his mind a couple days later.

Cameron may go down as one of FAU’s most dominant spring football players to ever prove inconsequential in the fall.

After returning to the Owls last season Cameron he recorded only one tackle.

Cameron returned to form this past spring, menacing quarterbacks and ball carriers in the backfield, and sprinting from the inside to the sideline to track down ball carriers.

His absence leaves a void on the Owls two-deep. A likely starter alongside Noah Jefferson this season, Cameron’s spot will likely be filled by Will Davis. Ray Ellis or Kevin McCrary could push to fill that spot.
