Seeing Blue in C-USA

BOCA RATON – FAU is coming off the bye week with a three game win streak. Florida Atlantic had a strong performance in its first C-USA game beating Charlotte 45-27. The Owls look to extend the streak on Saturday at Howard Schnellenberger Field against Middle Tennessee.

Through five games FAU quarterback Chris Robison ranks eighth in the nation in passing yards and 11th overall in passing touchdowns.

FAU won only four of its 16 meetings with MTSU, losing last year when Blue Raiders QB Brent Stockstill converted a prayer of a two-point conversion pass for a one-point win.

The Blue Raiders are coming off a big 24-13 win over Marshall last week at home.

MTSU’s offense is led by sophomore quarterback Asher O’Hara, who has thrown for 1,156 yards and nine scores in five starts. He’s also a running threat, as he ran for 76 yards and a score against Marshall

The MTSU defense allowed 578 yards of total offense to Marshall last week, surviving by creating four turnovers. The Blue Raiders gave up 376 yards in the air and 202 yards on the ground.

Week 7- C-USA Game of the Week:

North Texas at Southern Miss: Two of the top four passing teams in Conference USA (USM ranking 1st and UNT ranks 4th) face off in a West Division battle. Both team’s quarterbacks were named semi-finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Notable C-USA Performances Week 6

Offensive Player of the Week: UTSA RB Sincere McCormick rushed 22 times for 189 yards and a score in the 26-16 win over UTEP.

Defensive Player of the Week: MTSU S Jovante Moffatt recorded a team-high 14 tackles and two interceptions while leading MTSU over Marshall 24-13.

Special Teamer of the Week: FIU PR Maurice Alexander had 140 punt return yards including a 90 yarder for a score in the Panthers 44-0 win over Umass.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Marshall QB Isiah Green led the conference in passing yards, throwing for 365 yards and a touchdown in the 24-13 loss to MTSU.
  • UAB WR Kendall Parham caught three passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-20 win over Rice.

FAU In The C-USA

  • Robison leads the conference with 12 passing touchdowns and has thrown 2nd fewest interceptions in C-USA, 3.
  • TE Harrison Bryant is fifth in reception yards with 345 yards.
  • WR Deangelo Antoine ranks second in the conference in receiving touchdowns with four.
  • RB Larry McCammon is tied for third in the conference in rushing touchdowns with four.
  • The Owls have the second-most interceptions in C-USA with five.
