BOCA RATON – FAU released a set drawings to accompany the groundbreaking for the Schmidt athletic complex and while they are nice, they may not resemble what the finished product will actually look like.
FAU athletic director Pat Chun said the architect, builder and university only recently started to create the final designs. The ones released by FAU were likely created to help FAU fundraise for the project. Still, we elected to include them in the photo gallery because they might give fans an idea as to the direction the Owls could go with the project.
Also included in the gallery are shots of the four current NFL players who attended Friday’s ceremony: Randell Johnson (Jets), Lucky Whitehead (Cowboys), Brandin Bryant (Jets) and Trevon Coley (Browns).
Phase I of the Schmidt complex is expected to open in the summer of 2018.
