BOCA RATON – For the second consecutive season FAU football’s season-opener will be broadcast nationally by one of the Big Four over-the-air broadcast networks.
FOX will carry the Aug. 31 game, the network announced on Thursday, billing it as the Buckeyes home opener against “Lane Kiffin’s FAU Owls.”
That game will be played a full year after FAU fell to Oklahoma 63-14 in a game also televised on FOX.
The Kiffin-led Owls also drew the attention of the NFL Network. Earlier this month Conference USA announced a four-year broadcast deal with the NFL Network. Two of this year’s 10 broadcasts will feature FAU, with both being road games.
The Owls begin and end their C-USA play on the network, starting with their Sept. 28 C-USA opener at Charlotte and concluding on Nov. 30 against Southern Miss.
All of FAU’s away games will be viewable either over the air, via cable or satellite TV, or streaming services.
ESPN+, formerly ESPN 3, will carry FAU’s Sept. 14 game at Ball St., the Oct. 26 game at Old Dominion, the Nov. 2 game at Western Kentucky and the Nov. 23 game at UTSA. ESPN+ is a paid streaming service that requires a subscription. Home games against Wagner (Sept. 21), and MTSU (Oct. 12) will also air on ESPN+. Some of those games could eventually be picked up by a broadcast network.
FAU had already announced that its Sept. 7 game against UCF and its Oct. 18 game against Marshall, both home games, will be carried on CBS Sports Network. Played on a Friday night, the Marshall game will also serve as FAU’s homecoming game.
This year’s Shula Bowl against FIU, played Nov. 9 in Boca Raton, will be televised on Stadium.
