BOCA RATON – Cold shooting on a cold night led to the downfall of FAU, which fell to UAB 75-44 in the Owls Conference USA home opener.

After falling to FIU on Saturday in Miami, FAU was not able to change the pace as they dropped to 6-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

FAU trailed the entire first half and went into the locker room down 32-21, the largest lead of the first half for UAB. FAU struggled shooting, connecting on only 28 percent from the field, including 1-11 from three.

The Owls continued their struggles in the second half. The Blazers quickly turned their 11-point halftime lead into an 18-point bulge after 10 minutes and cruised to victory.



UAB connected on 54.4 percent of its shots on the night, while FAU only managed to make only 29.5 percent of its attempts.

Center Ronald Delph and guard Justin Massey led the Owls in in scoring with 8 points each. Delph added 10 rebounds.

UAB improved to 10-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. UAB’s Forward Chris Cokley lead all scoring in the game with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
