BOCA RATON – You are about to experience the first-ever bowl edition of OwlTalk, the first and still finest FAU football podcast.
FAU faces Akron on Tuesday in the Boca Raton Bowl – the first bowl appearance by the Owls since winning the Motor City Bowl in 2008.
On Thursday the Owls turned their focus to Akron during practice, treating the practice as they would a normal Monday game-week workout. Friday will be a typical Tuesday practice, and so on until Tuesday becomes Saturday – game day.
FAU won the Conference USA championship way back on Dec. 2., defeating North Texas 41-17. What have the Owls done between the championship game and now? That’s one of the topics addressed on OwlTalk, featuring host Brian Rowitz of ESPN West Palm and our own Chuck King.
Florida Atlantic coaches dove deeply into recruiting this past week, so OwlTalk does too. What are the Owls looking for? How will FAU approach the new early signing day for football? What about some of the previous signees who could arrive in January? Those questions and more covered.
And what can FAU expect from the Boca Raton Bowl experience? Now that final exams are complete, FAU players will have to deal with another type of distraction, bowl events – although fishing trips and zoo visits are far more enticing than exams.
Finally, we’ll examine Akron and what the Owls need to accomplish to finish the season on a 10-game winning streak.
FAU fans, you’ve waited a long time for a bowl edition of OwlTalk. Now you have it. Stick this in your ears and get your Boca Raton Bowl week started the right way. The Owls are bowling. Let’s roll.
