BOCA RATON – FAU’s administration imposed the two-game suspension on wide receiver Kamrin Solomon, not the football program, coach Lane Kiffin said on Monday.

“That came from above,” Kiffin said. “That was from the school and so we followed that. That was not our own. That was part of his punishment.”

Prior to the start of fall camp the university filed a No Trespass order against Solomon for his role in an off-campus altercation that led to the arrest of fellow wide receiver Kalib Woods on two counts of felony battery.

The above video is from The Venue’s surveillance cameras. The tattooed Solomon was identified as the second shirtless combatant. He appears to punch and kick a person while that person is down. Two FAU students were hospitalized as a result of injuries they say were suffered in the fight.

FAU rescinded Solomon’s No Trespass order midway through August, allowing him to resume classes and rejoin the team. He did not play in FAU’s first two games of the season, but returned to the field on Saturday against Bethune-Cookman, catching four passes for 36 yards.



The Owls wasted little time getting Solomon involved, handing him the ball on a jet sweep on the second play from scrimmage in Saturday’s game.

“It is good to have him back,” Kiffin said. “I think he helps that [wide receivers] room. He practices really hard and his personality is pretty much alpha. It is good for that room.”

Solomon caught 12 passes for 69 yards last season. He was a standout during spring practices.

“I just felt that when we ended the spring he was by far our best receiver, by far, and one of the top couple [players] on offense, period,” Kiffin said.

Woods led FAU with 68 catches for 934 yards last season. His reinstatement was announced during the second week of the season. He has yet to return to the field.

Kiffin doesn’t discuss disciplinary action, but he did indicate that Woods’ suspension was mandated by the university, too.

“That would be a fair assumption,” Kiffin said.

The charges against Woods have yet to be resolved. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 16.
