FAU won’t be entering the 2019 with the lofty external expectations thrust upon them prior to last season.
One year after being picked to win the East Division, a sampling of Conference USA media members picked FAU to finish third in the East.
Of course, one year ago the Owls were coming off their first C-USA championship. The 2018 Owls finished 5-7.
The media poll predicts that Marshall will win the East this season, receiving 14 votes, with Florida International (nine first place votes) finishing second. FAU did receive three first place votes.
Both Marshall and FIU play at Howard Schnellenberger Field this season.
With 20 votes, North Texas is the overwhelming pick to win the West Division. Southern Miss received four first place votes. UAB, picked to finish fourth, nabbed two first place votes.
FAU opens the season on Aug. 31 at Ohio St.
