UPDATE, Thursday 10:45 a.m.: Woods made his first appearance in court on Wednesday, with his mother and brother present. He has posted a $50,000 bond but as of Thursday morning was still being held while awaiting the application of a monitoring device.
UPDATE: A source familiar with the arrest tells OwlAccess.com the arrest stems from a fight in a local bar about a girl and that Woods originally denied he was at the establishment. (The probable cause affidavit shows that the alleged incident occurred at a banquet hall – not a bar. The alleged victims asserted that the fight was over a basketball foul call that happened a year ago.)
BOCA RATON – FAU has suspended starting wide receiver Kalib Woods indefinitely following Tuesday’s arrest on two counts of felony battery.
“We are aware of the matter with Kalib Woods,” FAU wrote in an official statement. “He was suspended from the team on Tuesday and will remain suspended pending the outcome of the charges.
Woods, a rising senior, led FAU last season with 68 receptions and 934 receiving yards. He worked with the stating unit all this spring.
A source with knowledge of the situation said the alleged incident occurred in January. FAU police arrested Woods on Tuesday morning. The Palm Beach County booking blotter shows that he was booked into the Palm Beach County Detention Center.
Further details surrounding the events leading to Woods’ arrest were not immediately available.
A team captain last season, Woods was one of a handful of FAU football players who took a leadership course prior to the start of last season.
