Gerdarius Troutman’s three-pointer with 5 seconds remaining sent FAU’s game at UTEP to overtime, where the Owls came up a point short of the Miners, 66-65.

Once again trailing in the closing seconds of extra time, this time by four points, Troutman drained his sixth three-pointer of the game to pull the Owls within a point with 3.5 seconds remaining.

FAU, however, couldn’t foul the Miners following the ensuing inbound pass, allowing UTEP to kill the final seconds and claim the victory.

Troutman led all scorers with a career-high 22 points.

The loss left FAU winless in its two-game trip to the Lone Star State.

He did have eight rebounds. …Fouling machine William Pfister fouled after scoring four points. …Troutman was the only Owl to make a three-pointer, draining six of nine attempts. The remainder of the Owls missed all 19 of their three-point shots.

Key Stat: 10 – Fouls combined by FAU big men Delph and Pfister. The duo spent the final 2:44 on the bench having fouled out.

Up Next: FAU returns home to face UAB on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
