Rust Then Reward

BOCA RATON – Playing only its second game within a two week span, FAU once again showed signs of rust before pulling away from Webber International for a 77-57 victory.

The NAIA Warriors trimmed FAU’s eight point halftime lead to only two points early in the second half before the Owls pulled away to win.

The victory was FAU’s first since defeating Ohio St. in Columbus on December 6.

FAU will now take a break for Christmas before returning to the court on Dec. 28 against Florida Gulf Coast.

In the second game of his second stint with the Owls, Justin Massey came off the bench to lead FAU with 15 points 19 minutes of play. Massey played for the Owls as a freshman before transferring to Brown University for his sophomore season. He played one semester at Brown before transferring back to FAU.

Because of NCAA transfer rules Massey didn’t become eligible to play for the Owls until after fall semester grades posted. FAU’s 76-56 loss at Miami on Thursday marked the first game that Massey was once again eligible to play. He did not score in that game.
