Falcon Talk

BOCA RATON – Considering all the talk and lofty expectations surrounding FAU’s season opener at No. 7 Oklahoma, hopes of the Owls winning that game were dashed rather quickly.

Air Force, FAU’s opponent this weekend, isn’t nearly as highly regarded as the Sooners, but the Falcons do enter the game undefeated, having pummeled FCS foe Stony Brook in both teams’ season opener.

FAU’s loss left plenty of questions surrounding the Owls. Chris Robison drew the start at quarterback. Did he do enough to retain the job and what are his prospects for the remainder of the season?

Devin Singletary played reasonably well, despite failing to reach the 100-yard mark for the first time in 13 games. What can the Owls expect from Motor against an Air Force squad that wasn’t very good against the run last season?

Lane Kiffin isn’t excited about playing Air Force and its triple option attack. Why is that? What do defensive players and coaches dislike about option teams and how do they prepare for it?

Host Brian Rowitz of ESPN West Palm and our Chuck King look back (briefly) at the Oklahoma game, then answer all the questions posed above, looking forward at what to expect from Saturday’s home opener at Howard Schnellenberger Field.

We even take a moment to discuss the free food that will be available at Saturday’s game, and we compare the plights of Florida St. and Miami to that of FAU.

So get yourself ready for the game Owl fans have been eagerly awaiting all week: FAU vs. Air Force. Give us 15 minutes. You’ll be a better FAU fan for doing so.
