BOCA RATON – During his weekly Monday morning meeting with the media, FAU coach Charlie Partridge left his desk and took to a nearby whiteboard to explain why Trey Hendrickson has become so good at blocking kicks.
Hendrickson, who finished second in the NCAA last season with 13.5 sacks last season, blocked a field goal attempt in each of the Owls’ first two games this season.
Saturday’s block against Miami came in the first quarter, keeping the game scoreless. Moments earlier Miami had connected on a long pass play that gave the Hurricanes a first down in the red zone.
FAU stopped Miami on the next three plays, forcing the field goal attempt. Hendrickson recorded one tackle – for a loss of two yards – against the Hurricanes.
Florida Atlantic (1-1) travels to Manhattan, Kan., to face Kansas St. on Saturday.
