BOCA RATON – The bulk has arrived.

Nearly half of the 2018 signing class FAU announced in February is currently on campus, taking classes and can participate in team offseason workouts – and most of them are offensive linemen.

FAU announced the signing of 16 players on National Signing Day. One, junior college defensive tackle Charles Cameron, enrolled at FAU for the spring semester and taking part in FAU’s spring practices. Seven more players arrived for one of FAU’s three summer semesters.

Lake Cameron, three of the new enrollees are former junior college players. Zack Bennett and Marcel Southall are both offensive linemen – a position of need for the Owls. The third new JUCO transfer, Desean Holmes, is a wide receiver from College of the Canyons in California. Lane Kiffin, FAU’s coach who famously coached at Southern Cal, initially recruited Holmes to be a Trojan.

Former Tulane starting center Junior Diaz, a graduate transfer who is eligible immediately, is also taking classes. Diaz played alongside FAU left tackle Reggie Bain at Miami Central and is expected to make an immediate impact for the Owls.

Devin Hayes, a true freshman likely to begin his career as an offensive lineman but could eventually switch to the defensive line, is also with the Owls now, as is defensive end Tre Jackson.

True freshman safety Armani Adams is also officially an Owl.

FAU is still planning on eight players announced on Signing Day and three who haven’t been announced to join the Owls for fall camp, which begins in early August.

Meiko Dotson, a cornerback, and wide receiver Nero Nelson are the two announced junior college transfers who’ve yet to make the trek to Boca Raton. Former Alabama running back B. J. Emmons, who transferred to Hutchinson Community College, is in the midst of completing his academic requires and plans to be at FAU on time.

Running back Malcolm Davidson, tackle Doug Johnson, defensive lineman Jaylen Joyner, quarterback Cordel Littlejohn offensive lineman Marquice Robinson and cornerback TJ Young are all finishing high school.

FAU has yet to announce the signing of Lakewood-Lyman defensive end Deon Woods, but will be an Owl upon completion of his academic requirements.
