BOCA RATON – Lane Kiffin expected FAU’s success this season to lead to new jobs for his assistants.
He’ll begin the new year looking to replace two coaches after the University of Hawaii announced the hiring of FAU assistant Corey Batoon as its defensive coordinator on Friday.
Batoon coached defensive backs and coordinated special teams for the Owls. FAU’s secondary currently leads the nation with 20 interceptions.
He becomes the second FAU assistant to turn the Owls’ 11-3 season that included a Conference USA championship and a Boca Raton Bowl victory into a more prestigious job.
Following the Boca Bowl victory Kiffin announced that offensive line coach Garin Justice accepted the same position at Arizona.
Batoon only coached one season at FAU, coming to Boca Raton from Mississippi along with defensive coordinator Chris Kiffin.
