FAU strikes quick on its opening drive, Harrison Bryant taking a pass in the flat and diving into the endzone to give the Owls a score in the game’s first two minutes. He also had a 44-yard catch-and-run on the first play from scrimmage.
James Pierre gets the start over Chris Tooley at boundary corner. He had previously been playing the nickel.
Shelton Lewis knifes into the backfield to stop Jeremy Cox short of the first down marker on fourth-and-short. Owls get the ball back on their own 13 yard line.
Punter Chris Robison makes another appearance on fourth down. He lines up in the shotgun and boots a 53-yarder, pinning Old Dominion on its own five yard line.
Leighton McCarthy gets pressure off the edge to force ODU quarterback Blake LaRussa out of the pocket and into the waiting arms of Azeez Al-Shaair for the sack. The Monarchs punt to the Owls’ 16 yard line.
Kerrith Whyte walks into the endzone untouched to score from three yards out. FAU goes for two and doesn’t convert.
Former USC Trojan and JUCO transfer Noah Jefferson makes his first career tackle for the Owls.
The FAU defense is swarming to the ball tonight, Jalen Young chasing down Jeremy Cox behind right at the line of scrimmage on third and long to force an ODU punt.
Azeez Al-Shaair flies in on a blitz and crushes LaRussa for a sack. The play is being reviewed for targeting.
The targeting call was confirmed, Al-Shaair is ejected from the game.
Old Dominion takes advantage of Al-Shaair’s absence, scoring a touchdown two plays after the linebacker left the game.
Excellent protection from the FAU offensive line allows Robison the time to hit Bryant over the middle for a 22-yard touchdown. His second receiving score of the game.
Chris Tooley intercepts LaRussa and takes it into the endzone on a 54-yard return, but the touchdown is called back as his knee was down. FAU ball with a minute left.
Robison fakes the handoff to Singletary and takes it into the endzone from five yards out on an option run. Vladimir Rivas connects on the extra point, FAU leads 26-7 with less than 30 seconds left in the half.

A fight breaks out after Old Dominion’s score, two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called on each team. FAU’s starting nickel corner Herb Miller is ejected.
LaRussa fires a pass to Travis Fulgham in double coverage for a 22-yard Old Dominion score. FAU still leads, 26-21.
FAU answers Old Dominion’s score with a kickoff return touchdown from Kerrith Whyte – Whyte’s second score of the game. The 100-yard return is the longest in FAU history.
Kesean Strong keeps his feet moving through contact, dragging FAU defenders to score a 13-yard Old Dominion touchdown. The Monarchs’ went for two, but LaRussa was picked off by Shelton Lewis to keep the Owls’ lead at five.

Devin Singletary races to the endzone on a 30-yard touchdown run. RT Brandon Walton opened up the running lane with an impressive pull block. FAU leads 39-27.
LaRussa’s intended receiver falls on the play, Shelton Lewis picking off the pass to give FAU the ball back.
Kerrith Whyte scores his third touchdown of the game, a 31-yard scamper to put the Owls up by 19. Junior Diaz got out in space from his center position and pancaked a defender in the second level to open up the play.
LaRussa finds Strong for a 10-yard touchdown, FAU leads by 13 after the Monarchs’ two-point attempt fails.
