FAU defeats MTSU 38-20. Another big game from Devin Singletary. He ties the program record with four TDs in one game. Owls undefeated in Conference USA.

Every week there are always a few good quotes that don’t make it into stories. This feels like a good place to put some of them – a little reward for people who frequent the message board. Enjoy.

Lane Kiffin on Jason Driskel’s Buffalo performance:
“He managed the game fine as far as getting us in the right plays and stuff like that.”

QB Daniel Parr on last year’s MTSU game: “It was wild. It was back and forth. It was a shootout.”

Parr on the FAU defense: “Defensively, we’re definitely a lot better than we were in that game last year. I think we’ll be ready to go.”

Devin Singletary on last year’s game: “It still hurts, but we’ve got to get ready for this year. Got to make it happen. Got to get a win.”

That’s a few to get you going. Will try to post more on Saturday.

FAU defensive players want to make a statement on Saturday. The Owls are looking for revenge after MTSU hung 77 points on FAU last year. Here’s the story:

We’ll have something shortly about potential candidates to replace Partridge. Seeing many names already being tossed around. Don’t put much stock in coaches with a defensive background. FAU wants offense. Also, previous head coaching experience a true plus…

I think the shuffling along the offensive line has everyone a little out of their element.

And you’re right about the hurry up. Once you commit to it, it’s hard to come out of it.

I was shocked they didn’t punt there – high risk, low reward. Once they didn’t pick up the first down, the game was over. FAU has the best punter in the nation – who did have one blocked earlier – but you have to extend the game there. I don’t care that Woods dropped a sure first down. That mistake falls on the coaches.

By the way, I addressed this very topic in today’s Four Down Territory.

Should be an interesting week in the Homer family. Tevin is a CB at FAU. Brother Travis is a RB at Miami. Both could be on the field at the same time on Saturday.

    Some injury updates:

Partridge said he expects WR Nate Terry and G Antonyo Woods to play on Saturday. The Owls will also get backup center Richard Williams back this week. Sources tell me he was suspended for the first game.

FAU coach Charlie Partridge said LT Reggie Bain has moved from a hospital unit at Delray Medical Center to a rehab facility.

“Hopefully as soon as possible we get him back around here,” Partridge said. “The guys miss him. We miss him.”

Partridge said Bain spent part of Saturday listening to the Owls’ victory over Southern Illinois.

“From the excitement in his voice it felt like he was in the locker room celebrating with us,” Partridge said.

FAU defeats Southern Illinois 38-30. FAU is 1-0 for the first time since 2012. Owl Nation, what did you think of the win?

A traffic accident will likely rob starting LT Reggie Bain of his season. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Reggie.

FAU OL Byers Hickman has rejoined the Owls after missing much of fall camp recovering from an injury. He probably won’t be much of a factor this week against Southern Illinois, but he should play this year. Was on the second team following the spring. He’s a good piece to have.
