BOCA RATON – Devin Singletary’s record season simply keeps on rolling.

On Monday the Associated Press named Singletary a third-team All-American. It’s the first time an FAU player has ever been selected to any AP All-American team.

Singletary’s 29 rushing touchdowns leads the nation and tied a Conference USA record. Only four players have ever rushed for more touchdowns in a season. His 30 overall touchdowns is also tops, nationally.

The sophomore led C-USA with 1,796 rushing yards, and he will likely finish the season no worse than fourth nationally in that category.

“It’s pretty amazing what he’s done,” FAU coach Lane Kiffin said. “Obviously that takes players around him playing really well like they did.”

Stanford’s Bryce Love, a Heisman Trophy finalist, and San Diego St.’s Rashaad Penny earned first team selection at running back. Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor and Auburn’s Kerryon Johnson nabbed the second team slots. USC’s Ronald Jones joined Singletary on the third team.

Singletary helped lead FAU to its first-ever Conference USA title this season. Behind Singletary, the Owls raced through conference USA play undefeated, claiming the C-USA title with a 41-17 victory over North Texas.

The Owls and Singletary have one more game to add to their stats. FAU plays Akron on Dec. 19 in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Singletary and the Owls practiced on Sunday and Monday, but will take Tuesday and Wednesday off before beginning Boca Bowl preparation on Thursday.
