Late Comeback

Tied at 60, FAU outscored Northern Illinois 17-7 over the final 5:54 to defeat the Huskies 77-67 as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

The victory is the Owls’ first over a Division I team this season and comes one day after FAU fell to Towson 76-52 in the same tournament.

Justin Massey scored seven of his 16 points during FAU’s late run, including one of his two three-pointers.



Center Ronald Delph scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, leading the Owls in both statistical categories. The 14 rebounds established a new career high for Delph.

Moving Forward: FAU continues to crash the boards – an emphasis for coach Michael Curry this season. The Owls out-rebounded the Huskies 38-34. Ten of Delph’s rebounds came on the defensive side of the court. …Point guard Anthony Adger’s 15 points included 7-of-8 shooting from the free throw line.

Moving Backward: Starting forwards William Pfister and Jailyn Ingram combined to score two points in 40 minutes of court time. …FAU turned the ball over 11 times while only forcing 10 turnovers. …The Owls want to force the tempo, but only managed five points in transition.



Key Stat: 51 – Second half points for the Owls, who trailed by three at halftime after only scoring 26 points in the first 20 minutes.
