BOCA RATON – Old Dominion ended FAU’s modest three-game winning streak with 73-62 victory over the Owls at The Burrow on Saturday.

The Monarchs broke open what had been a two point game with a 12-0 run midway through the first half. The Owls never managed to get the score back to single digits after that.

“I though we were an aggressive team tonight,” FAU coach Michael Curry said.

Prior to ODU’s run, FAU produced a spurt that cut what had been an eight-point Monarchs’ halftime lead to two points. A couple of three-pointers from Justin Massey keyed that run.

FAU center Ronald Delph led all scorers with 19 points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Old Dominion shot 19 more free throws than did FAU, and the 11 point advantage the Monarchs enjoyed at the line matched their margin of victory.

FAU began the game with a 2-0 lead courtesy of Delph, but the Owls never again led.
