Florida Atlantic’s season came to an end meekly on Wednesday night with an 83-72 loss to UAB in the first round of the Conference USA tournament in Frisco, Tex.

The No. 11 seed, FAU trailed 40-30 at the half before sixth seeded UAB burst out of the locker room with a 13-6 run in the opening minutes of the second half.

UAB led by as much of 21 points in the second half and coasted to victory.



The loss may well prove to be the final game of the Michael Curry era, Under Curry, the Owls posted a 39-84 record in four seasons. During that period FAU won one postseason game. Their 12-19 record this season is the best record under Curry.

He still has two years remaining on a contract that pays $325,000 per year.

FAU’s only consistent scoring threat all season, third-team All-Conference USA performer Ronald Delph led the Owls with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Key Stat: 26.1 – percentage of FAU three-point shots that found their mark.
