BOCA RATON – FAU coach Lane Kiffin believes an unspecified injury contributed to quarterback De’Andre Johnson’s poor outing in Saturday’s scrimmage.

Johnson went through some drills on Monday, but spent much of the practice, including the team scrimmage portion, on the sidelines.

Jason Driskel worked primarily with the first team on Monday, but Daniel Parr did take a good share of snaps with the first team, too.

Johnson, a former Florida St. Seminole who transferred to FAU from East Mississippi CC, was wildly inaccurate on Saturday, completing only a handful of passes and failing to lead the offense on a scoring drive. The one sustained drive he piloted ended with an interception in the end zone.

Parr, who missed all of spring practice while recovering from foot surgery, enjoyed a strong scrimmage on Saturday, tossing two touchdown passes.

Kiffin said Parr earned snaps with the first team on Monday regardless of Johnson’s injury.

The injury is not expected to keep Johnson sidelined for long.
