BOCA RATON – Saturday’s start of the fall semester hasn’t stopped FAU from adding to its football roster.

One day after Auburn transfer John Franklin practiced with FAU for the first time another wide receiver, West Virginia’s Jovon Durante, announced he, too, was coming to Boca Raton.

Durante made the announcement on Twitter, doing so, oddly enough, using a graphic (above) that misspelled his first name (Either that or he spells his name wrong on his Twitter account.)

In two seasons at West Virginia, the Miramar product tallied 709 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during his two seasons in Morgantown.

He was also suspended for the Mountaineers 2015 Cactus Bowl game, reportedly for academic reasons, and from all of WVU’s 2016 spring practice.

To comply with NCAA transfer regulations, Durante will have to sit out the 2017 season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Durante is the fifth high-profile transfer to join the Owls since fall camp began on July 27.

Former Florida St. linebacker Kain Daub officially became an Owl two weeks ago. Defensive tackle Jeremiah Taleni came to FAU as a graduate transfer from Pitt shortly thereafter.

Colorado St. offensive lineman Zach Stefo briefly joined the Owls before being removed from the roster. He could return to the roster now that classes have started.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Chris Robison, who was dismissed from the Sooners, announced earlier this week that he intended to transfer to FAU. Like Durante, Robison will have to sit out the 2017 season.

In February FAU signed JUCO wide receivers DeAndre McNeal, formerly of Texas, and D’Anfernee McGriff, a former Florida signee; along with defensive end Tim Bonner, a former Louisville Cardinal.

Another former Florida St. Seminole, quarterback De’Andre Johnson, transferred to FAU from East Mississippi CC in December.

FAU also added guard William Tuihalamaka, who played at San Diego St., in the days leading up to camp.
