The only players who started every FAU basketball game this season are planning to transfer away from the Owls for next season, OwlAccess.com has learned.

Point guard Nick Rutherford and forward Jeantal Cylla, both sophomores, have elected to play elsewhere.

Rutherford led the Owls with 4.3 assists per game and his 9.0 points average were third most. He also hit the biggest shot of the year for FAU, a floater in the closing seconds of overtime that allowed the Owls to beat Ohio St. in Columbus.

Cylla appeared primed for a breakout season but seemed to fall out of favor in the season’s second half. His 7.1 points per game only ranked seventh on the Owls. The 3.3 rebounds averaged averaged by the 6-foot-7 Cylla were fourth best.

FAU went 10-20 this past season in Michael Curry’s third year as head coach. The Owls were the No. 11 seed in the Conference USA tournament, where they lost in the opening round to Marshall.
