Finishing Touch

It took a little longer than the Owls hoped but FAU claimed its series victory over UAB by defeating the Blazers 9-5 on Sunday in the resumption of a game suspended Saturday because of rain.

The Owls led 7-2 when the rain came on Saturday after six innings. Upon resumption the Owls promptly put the game away by loading the bases in the top of the seventh, then scoring two runs on Eric Rivera’s single.

FAU trailed briefly in the game when starter Jake Miednik surrendered a run in the first.

Catcher Pedro Pages gave the Owls a lead they wouldn’t relinquish with a two-run homer in the top of the second, his third of the year.

FAU added two more runs in the third and another in the fourth to begin to pull away.

With the victory FAU pulled back into a three-way tie atop Conference USA with Old Dominion and Southern Miss.
