BOCA RATON – Eric Rivera’s 11th-inning solo blast over the left field wall gave FAU a 5-4 victory over Charlotte on Saturday.

Rivera already had two hits on the afternoon before stepping to the plate with two out in the 11th.

His home run was the third of the day for the Owls, with the first two coming off David Miranda’s bat. Miranda’s line-drive shot to right in the third and his shot to left in the sixth both drove in two runs.

Trailing 4-1 in the eighth Charlotte scored three runs thanks in part to Miranda’s fielding error in right field.

Closer Zach Schneider recorded the final out of the eighth and work the following three innings in scoreless fashion to earn his third win of the season.

The Owls have now won six consecutive games.
