Former Owl Mickey Storey called up by Astros

Another Owl is in the big leagues.

Former FAU pitcher Mickey Storey was called up by the Astros on Friday from Triple A Oklahoma City.

Storey made his debut in the seventh inning of the Astros game at Atlanta.

Storey,who pitched for FAU from 2005-08, will pitch out of the Houston bullpen.

The promotion of Storey comes less than two weeks after former FAU pitcher Jeff Beliveau made his major league debut for the Cubs.

Storey is the seventh FAU player to make it to the majors following:
 

  • P Tim Harikkala: Mariners (1995-96), Red Sox (1999), Rockies (2004, 2007) A's (2005)
  • P Carmen Cali: Cardinals (2004-05), Twins (2007)
  • P Tommy Murphy: Angels (2006-07)
  • OF Jeff Fiorentio: Orioles (2005-06, 2009), A's (2008)
  • P Mike Crotta: Pirates (2011)
  • Jeff Beliveau: Cubs (2012)
