FAU has days off scheduled during training camp
By Marcus Nelson
Monday was a day off for players before resuming training camp on Tuesday and the first of three days off during training camp.
That's “days” off. Plural. More than one.
Under Howard Schnellenberger it was standard procedure to have one scheduled day off during training camp.
But Owls coach Carl Pelini wants his players to be fresh for their practice sessions. Thanks to exams, players were given a break on Monday before getting back at it on Tuesday with the first two-a-day scheduled for Wednesday.
“I always ;like to give them a day off a week during camp just so they can regroup mentally and get off their feet,” Pelini said. “Hopefully they'll take advantage of it. ...A day off will be good for them and hopefully they'll come out fresher on Tuesday.”
There was some notable activity scheduled for Monday, however.
Athletic Director Pat Chun was to begin his orientation with the FAU human resources department on his first official day of work.
Also, the football team took their headshots and their videos for the scoreboard at the stadium and modeled the new uniforms the Owls will wear this season. Hopefully some pictures will leak out.
And last, but not least, Pelini allowed the media to stick around for nearly an hour into Sunday's practice allowing some of the first images of players doing more than stretching.
Here's a photo gallery from Sunday's workout.
