Arkansas St. player apologizes for slamming FAU
By Marcus Nelson
A few days ago we made mention of the classless reactions that were coming out of Jonesboro, Ark. after FAU won the outright regular-season Sun Belt Conference championship due to an unfortunate rain-out on the last day of the regular season.
Well, juding by the comments left on that blog, it got some attention from Red Wolves fans who ignored the facts that FAU had nothing to do with the finale being canceled.
But one response, was quite different and it came from an unlikely source.
ASU junior second baseman Zach Maggio who last weekend Tweeted that FAU was “scared to play” the game, Tweeted an apology after the blog was posted and said “you guys had a great season and hope to see you in the championship game."
Another Tweet we pointed out in the original post was from an Arkansas State athletic department staff member, who, predictably, deleted his post (although we took a screen grab of it before it was deleted).
I want to give kudos to Maggio for showing more class than some of the adults who support (and work for ) Arkansas State and also extend our congratulations to the ASU and ULM players and coaching staffs for making it to today’s championship game.
