Thursday's Daily Briefing: Former Atlantic WR Turner interested in FAU
There are some rumors circulating about former Delray Beach-Atlantic wide receiver Ezekiel Turner, who was recruited by FAU but signed with Florida International as part of the Golden Panthers' 2011 recruiting class.
Turner (photo, with the ball) is not going to attend FIU and has apparently been granted his full release.
I talked with someone who has knowledge of Turner's situation and he told me that Turner is interested in FAU, going so far as to call the coaches to see of something could be worked out. It appears there is some interest from FAU, though it's hard to gauge how much. FAU coaches have been working to ensure their own signing class of 2011 is able to enroll in Summer B session.
FAU does need receivers, but the Owls are expecting to have Stephan Clark, William Dukes, and Derek Moise in fall camp. Is Turner the best of that group? I really don't know.
Could they use Turner? I would think so. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder was selected a Palm Beach Post First Team player. I've seen him play throughout his high school career, and he's fast, elusive and has pretty good hands.
Turner is still trying to figure out his options. He has offers from I-AA and D II schools. He is also considering enrolling in junior college.
We'll stay on top of this situation and update Owl fans when we get more information.
We finally reached the top of the list, selecting the approval of FAU's new on-campus stadium as the No. 1 FAU sports story over the past year.
