Monday's FAU Daily Briefing: Saunders closes the deal
By Marcus Nelson
So it only took FAU President Mary Jane Saunders a few months to get an on-campus stadium approved by the university’s board of trustees.
Well, yes and no.
Saunders did get the deal approved by the board and her enthusiasm for the project was a large factor in trustees voting in favor of the complicated financing plan last week,
However much of the credit for getting the project to this point must go to former FAU President Frank Brogan, who led the effort for years.
Coincidently, Brogan now heads the Board of Governors - which will cast the final vote for approval of FAU’s stadium plan in September.
But it was Saunders, who closed the deal with the FAU’s Trustees and led one to compare her to Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.
No word on whether “Enter Sandman” will be played at the next BOT meeting.
