Stunning catch by Wrentz gives Booker T. the Heath Evans title
Did a lot of running around today, but my last stop was the most fun. Pulled into King's Academy in West Palm Beach just in time to see the final match-up in the Heath Evans 7-on-7 tournament.

This is one of the most watched tournaments of its kind in the country, featuring numerous soon-to-be high school seniors - the kind that make college coaches drool so badly that they need bibs.

While the talent was there - teams from all over the state entered the tournament - the college coaches were not. Those NCAA recruiting rules can be so pesky.

The championship game featured a couple of perennial powerhouses: Fort Lauderdale-Boyd Anderson vs. Miami-Booker T. Washington. The game lived up to its billing.

Boyd Anderson seemed to have the title all wrapped up until Jayvon Wrentz went high into the air to snatch a Hail Mary pass (photo) for the victory.

Wrentz has received intertest from the likes of Tennessee and Georgia, and has an offer from Florida International. He said FAU has not talked to him yet, but if they do he's willing to listen.

"Any school that will get me into the college level," said Wrentz, still clutching the trophy.

Booker T. coach Earl Tillman Jr. said FAU hasn't offered any of his players yet, but the Owls have established a recruiting presence on his campus. Tillman added that he'd like to see a couple of his players head to Boca Raton.

"We've got some kids that can play at the Division I level, they just have to give the kids an opportunity," Tillman said.

More will be coming from this event on FAUOwlAccess.com in the coming days. For now, though, it's time to locate a Father's Day present and a beverage. Who knows, they might end up being one in the same.
