FAU senior guard Greg Gantt's stellar scoring week earned him some recognition at the conference level.
On Tuesday the Sun Belt Conference named Gantt its Player of the Week. Gantt scored a career-high 34 points on Thursday against Stetson and followed that with a 19-point outing on Sunday against Warner. He also grabbed a combined 12 rebounds in those games. The Owls won both games and currently boast a three-game winning streak.
Those two performances followed consecutive 29-point games for Gantt.
Gantt's 20.8 points per game leads the Sun Belt and is 14th best in the nation. Both Gantt and FAU coach Mike Jarvis attribute the early season success to the vigorous weight loss regimen Gantt undertook in the weeks leading up to the start of the season that helped him shed upwards of 25 pounds.
Always a good jump shooter, Gantt has developed the ability to create his own shot this season and has even proved to be an offensive threat in the low post.
Gantt was a second team preseason All-Sun Belt selection this season.
At 5-4, Florida Atlantic's record is above the .500 mark for the first time this season.
