After another Sun Belt Conference victory over a BCS Conference team this weekend, Commissioner Karl Benson says the next step may be getting a team in the Top 25.

Florida Atlantic coach Carl Pelini wasn't on Monday's weekly Sun Belt Conference coaches teleconference because he was out recruiting so we'll swap Carl for Karl – as in Karl Benson, the Sun Belt Commissioner, who spoke on Monday.

After Middle Tennessee defeated Georgia Tech it was another big weekend for the Sun Belt Conference and Benson was basking in the success of the conference as it notched the third victory over a school from an automatic qualifying BCS Conference.

In addition, ULM defeated in-state rival Tulane to continue its incredible season that featured an upset over Arkansas.

“It was another significant weekend for the Sun Belt,” Benson said.

Benson said the next step for the conference for this season he'd like to see is a team cracking the Top 25.

“That would be the next significant juncture. We don't have that undefeated team, but we certainly have teams with one loss,” Benson said. “Wku MT, ULL have one loss and those three teams are poised to do that should they win more games.”
