For this first time since the NCAA began using Academic Progress Rates to monitor success in the classroom, none of Florida Atlantic’s athletic teams were penalized for poor scores.

FAU’s football program, which was hit with a three scholarship reduction last season, posted a 960 APR score for 2010-11 and a multi-year score of 930. Programs with scores below 900 are subject to NCAA penalties ranging from loss of practice time, a reduction in scholarships and, in extreme cases, postseason bans if the programs show a long-term history of low APR scores.

FAU’s football program had been penalized a total of nine scholarships over the last four seasons.

The NCAA began monitoring APR scores for the 2004-05 academic year.

Interim athletic Director Melissa Dawson was not available for an interview about FAU’s APR scores on Wednesday, the day the NCAA released its APR results for 2010-11.
