There is a rumor going around that FAU has hired former NFL player and current high school coach Rod Payne to coach the defensive line. Just talked with coach Schnellenberger and he said that while Payne is a candidate - one of three - no decision has been made yet.
We'd been hearing Payne might be the guy for a couple of weeks now, but if Schnellenberger said it's not a done deal, we will take him at his word. That doesn't mean Payne won't be the guy. In fact, I'd have to guess he will be. He was in the Oxley this week to meet with Schnellenberger.
