There has been many preseason predictions this summer about who will win the sunbelt and who will be on the preseason, all sunbelt team. With media day's comming up next week, just who do you think will win?  I believe the outcome will go like this.

FAU / MTSU

TROY

ARKST

LOUSIANNA

FIU

MONROE

NORTH TEXAS

WESTERN KY

I think MTSU has a fine team , however they  are without Coach Franklin's system, remember Dasher before last year that system really helped him out. FAU owe them one, for the last two years we have gone into the fourth quater with a lead and come out without a win. This is a game we can and will win.

Troy has a year to rebuild it's team. It will not be a walk in the park, but we will prevail in that game.

The rest of the belt teams. The middle of the pack are beatable ie lousianna, arkst, monroe and fiu. We should get plenty of experience with them and kick there butts.North Texas and Western Ky. will be going bottom fishing as alway's.

As for the preseason Belt team, I'm sticking with what the print media is saying from FAU they have Morris, Van CAMP, Polo, Cyrille, Lockley, Bartell, Cox ,Housler and L. Jean on there 1st or 2ond team. What do you think? As for the O and D player of the year I will not name one at this time. I will come back and do this again at mid season.

I think FAU's defense will be better and the offense will be worse. Is that a receipe for a conference title? Probably not. I know people are high on MTSU and Troy. I see no reason to disagree. FAU will battle for the third spot which, with 35 Bowls approved for this year, doesn't necessaily mean no post season.

As far as player accolades, I don't expect Alfred Morris to repeat his rushing title. The line is too inexperienced and there are too many people behind him to help carry the load. One of the reasons that Morris got so many carries last year was that everyone behind him was hurt. So far Jeff Blanchard and Willie Floyd have looked good - which is good for FAU, but bad for Morris' numbers.

I wouldn't surprise me if Van Camp, Jean, Housler or Williams, Polo, and Cyrille received Sun Belt honors.

On the contrary, I think those comments are completely consistent. The defense will likely need some time to adapt to the new philosophies, but I do think it will be better than last year. Doesn't it almost have to be? In 2009 the defense seemed to get worse as the season progressed. I expect to see the opposite this year. It will be better. The question is, can it improve enough to offset an offense that won't be as good?

Which brings us to Van Camp. Other than perhaps throwing a tighter, more consistent spiral, I believe he has all the tools to be one of the top QBs in the league. The youth and inexperience issues with the offensive line have been well documented. I suspect those issues will show up more in the running game, which is part of the reason I don't expect Morris to repeat as the Sun Belt rushing leader.

Van Camp may not end up first team All-Sun Belt, but I do think he will have a very successful year in the air. I also suspect he will find the end zone quite a few times on scrambles and designed runs.

I think it will be WKU freshman QB Brandon Doughty. Just kidding.

MTSU's Dwight Dasher is probably the front runner for All-Sun Belt QB. I think Troy QB Jaime Hampton could be in the mix. He's a veteran and the Trojans should be in the mix for the conference title.

Want a long shot? How about Derek Thompson, if he wins the North Texas job. If this revised Dodgeball ever catches fire, the North Texas QB will throw for a lot of yards.

Van Camp will in the mix, though, and I expect him to have a strong season.

Chuck, from what i have seen JVC and Dwight Dasher are going to be fighting for the top spot.  DD has more game exper. but JVC is bigger and has a better arm.  Its really a shame that he only has 2 or 3 good targets to throw to this seaon. Rob, Lester and maybe Avery.    I think that if he had started for us for the past 3 years, Jeff would have better numbers than Rusty and be picked higher in the draft.  Dasher is going to be tough to stop this year; hes the whole package... above average arm and can scramble.

Happy now?

Mike
