FIU, North Texas to C-USA?
Posted: 4/28/2012 10:24:00 AM

There have been plenty of rumblings lately that North Texas and FIU could be headed to Conference USA.

Saturday, Brett McMurphy of reports that "Conference USA also is looking to add North Texas and Florida International from the Sun Belt and Louisiana Tech from the WAC"

The report also says UTSA (long considered a possible candidate to join the Sun Belt) will join C-USA as well.

If this report is accurate, this is a very dark day for the Sun Belt.

If this is the case FAU better hire the AD and a marketing agent or company soon. With those two items being address, the win and lost ratio at FAU is the next  problem. Out side of Footall in 2003, 2007 2008, Men's Baseball and except for this year Women's Softball,  FAU Sports are at the bottom of the SUN -  BELT .  FAU needs to start winning in order to advance either in the SUN-BELT or any other Conference. No one likes to be last and it will take a major comitment from every one in the FAU Family to go to the next level --- and that is being a "WINNER".

Our three year slide seems to have had some negative impact. Potentially, FAU has the ability to be better and grow a faster fan base than FIU, but they have had more recent success. Give Mario credit. Timing is everything.

I guess CUSA is not interested in Port-A-Potty Baseball!

We may not have to wait long before North Texas makes it official that it is moving to C-USA.

Brett Vito of Denton Record-Chronicle says the announcement could come this week.

I'm really disappointed in FAU, to see FIU get accepted that's unacceptable, our administration sucks!

It's bad enough we won't be moving up, but to have to watch FIU's program take a step forward makes it even worse.

I agree that this appears to be happening and is a big disappointment.  The way the universities in Florida continually work against each other is an even greater disappointment.  What would have been the best route for FIU to take, that would have provided the greatest benefit for the State of Florida and its students?  Certainly not leaving another university in Florida behind.  The route should have been to lobby hard to take FAU with them.  However, this is an unfortunate common occurrence.  It happened between South Florida and Central Florida and between UF and FSU.  Our University Presidents need to learn to work together and consider what is best for the state, not against each other in such a selfish manner.  This unfortunately extends well beyond just our sports programs.

Just saw this, and it's not good for the Sun Belt...

Not only will C-USA take North Texas and FIU from the Sun Belt and Texas-San Antonio, but will also grab Sun Belt targets Charlotte and Old Dominion according to Brett McMurphy of

The Sun Belt has a press conference on Wednesday where it assumed it will announce the addition of Texas State and possibly Texas-Arlington (which doesn't play football)

This is what we gathered from "monitoring the situation" which is just about what FAU has been doing for the last few months on this issue.

Who else thinks FAU should not pay Angelos another red cent! He clearly did not do his job!

Maybe they could just stop putting money in his account via direct deposit.

When he calls FAU to complain, they could just say "We're monitoring the situation."

Just were is the money comming from to pay Craig ---- can it be from the Michigan State Game in Detroit or the rental of our stadium for the Battle of Florida. How long is going to take for FAU to be in the Black ?.  Having a new stadium, Campus in Boca Raton FL. these two items are not enough for a conference move. FAU is becomming the poor little sister college just like UAB ( University of Alabama Birmingham) and ULM ( University of Louisiana Monroe).

But with a great, beautiful new stadium!
